Interesting facts... this is how much the US spent on foreign aid each year.
2016 - $50 billion (B)
2017 - $48B
2018 - $48B 2019 - $49B 2020 - $52B
2021 - $53B 2022 - $70B 2023 - $56B
You can see that there's not a significant YOY difference, except for a one-time increase in 2022 in Economic Development due to the bipartisan (86-11) Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2022.
It's also interesting to see that Trump "cut off funding to the West Bank and Gaza and re-routed money from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala - where most of those who attempt to migrate to the US originate - to Colombia and Venezuela."
I guess it's no big surprise, then, that we cut off financial assistance to select countries, and shortly thereafter they began having economic problems that led to wars and mass emigration.
